Beckley, WV (WOAY) – After meeting in the season opener in New Richmond, Wyoming East faced Bluefield Tuesday night on the second day of the Big Atlantic Classic.
The game began with plenty of offense, with the Beavers and Warriors combining for 14 three-pointers in the first half alone. It was the Warriors who gained the momentum in the first half, leading 44-39 at the break.
However, the Beavers answered with a comeback starting midway through the third quarter. Led primarily by junior Mookie Collier, Bluefield took its first lead of the game in the fourth quarter and went on to win 73-68.
In the second Boys Class AA game of the night, both Independence and Poca overcame slow starts on offense to play a close contest, with the Dots coming from behind to win 59-49.
The Warriors and Patriots will play each other Wednesday afternoon, while Bluefield faces Poca Saturday for the Boys Class AA championship.
