Bluefield, WV (WOAY) – In their only regular season meeting in January, Wyoming East and Bluefield played a close contest in the first half before the Lady Warriors won 69-50.
On Wednesday, they played another close contest early, before a third-quarter run gave Bluefield the lead, as they went on to win 52-44 in a Class AA Region 3 co-final.
Alyssa Lester led all scorers with 17 points, and was a part of that run that gave the Lady Beavers a lead in the third quarter that they would maintain for the rest of the game. Wyoming East was led by Emily Saunders, who not only scored 15 points, but added eight rebounds and eleven blocks.
The second Region 3 co-final (River View @ Westside) has been moved to Thursday. The seeds for the Class AA state tournament will be announced after that game is completed.
