Girls Class A Semifinals – St. Joseph Central vs. Summers County

Charleston, WV (WOAY) – After quarterfinal wins on Wednesday, Summers County & St. Joseph Central met on Friday in the Class A state semifinals.

The Lady Bobcats got out to a 7-2 lead early in the contest, before St. Joe’s went on a run to lead 21-13 after the first quarter. Summers County would rally to close the deficit to 24-22, but the Irish went into halftime with a 10-point lead. They would continue their success on offense in the second half, winning 79-59. The Irish will play Williamstown for the Class A state championship on Saturday.

Lady Bobcat senior Whittney Justice scored 24 points for the second straight game, and finishes her Summers County career with 1,880 points – a school record. Brittney Justice had 19 points, bringing her career tally to 1,869. Both sisters will play at WVU Tech next fall.

Summers County finishes the season at 24-3.
