Tony Kemper Named Head Coach of Marshall Women’s Basketball

WOAY – Marshall athletic director announced Friday that associate head coach Tony Kemper will take charge of the Thundering Herd’s women’s basketball program.

The promotion comes five days after Matt Daniel announced his resignation; he had gone 71-85 in five seasons.

Kemper had been on Daniel’s staff for all five of those seasons in Huntington. In that time, Marshall increased its win total in the first four years – making appearances in the Women’s Basketball Invitational in 2015 and the WNIT in 2016. Both men previously coached at Central Arkansas.

The Thundering Herd went 13-17 in the 2016-17 season, appearing in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament.
