Virginia Tech Picked Second in ACC Coastal

WOAY – The ACC football preseason poll was released Monday, with Virginia Tech predicted to finish second in the Coastal Division.

The reigning division champions received 932 votes and 40 first-place votes, while top pick Miami had 103 first-place votes. The Hokies and Hurricanes will play each other November 4th in Coral Gables.

Virginia Tech also received three votes to win the conference title, with Florida State the heavy favorite to win. The Hokies are seeking their first ACC championship since 2010.

Two Hokies continue to receive watch list recognition, with Tremaine Edmunds and Greg Stroman being respectively named to the lists for the Butkus (best linebacker) and Hornung (most versatile player) Awards.

Virginia Tech’s first conference game is September 30 against defending national champion Clemson.
